Dan Billick Massage

Terms & Policies

YOUR FIRST VISIT
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your first scheduled appointment. This allows you time to fill out the brief intake form.

PAYMENT
I accept Venmo, cash, check, & credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, & Discover).  In order to hold your appointment time, I will take your payment information when you make the appointment. If you wish to use a different payment method, please let us know when you arrive for your session.

ARRIVING LATE
I will always do my best to give your full appointment time.  However, I must keep a precise schedule to keep things running smoothly.  The appointment reserves a “block” of time (ex. 2:00-3:00 pm), not an “amount” of time (ex. 60 min). A good analogy is purchasing a movie ticket: you get to experience as much of the film as you show up for. I can’t restart the movie if you arrive late, but I’ll give you everything I can.

CANCELLATIONS
If for any reason, please give 24-hour notice if you need to re-schedule or cancel your appointment.  Notice can be given via phone, text, or email.

Example:
Appointment time:  Thursday @ 2:00 pm
Cancellation deadline:  Wednesday @ 2:00 pm.

Failure to cancel/re-schedule appointments at least 24 hours in advance or failure to show up for your appointment will result in a 100% charge of the scheduled appointment fee.  Fees processed on the credit card retained on file to reserve appointment.

REFUNDS
There is a no refund policy.  Exceptional circumstances can be considered on a case-by-case basis and is subject entirely upon therapist approval.

AGE REQUIREMENT
We accept appointments for children 12 and older; additional in-take & release forms required.   Initial appointment requires brief interview with parent/legal guardian and child.  Parent/legal guardian must be present during 1st appointment.  Subsequent appointments do not require parent/legal guardian attendance, but you are always welcome.

DRAPING
Draping will always be used during your appointment.  This includes a bottom sheet, top sheet, & blanket.  Respect for your personal boundaries and privacy is of the utmost importance.  While some modalities (Lomi Lomi; Ashiatsu) may require more liberal draping, your comfort always takes priority.  Only the area being worked on will be un-draped.

CLOTHING
The greater access (skin-to-skin contact) to the desired areas, the greater connection between client and therapist. At the same time, creating a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic space is the ultimate priority. Clients are encouraged to dress-down to their level of comfort. Removing underwear is not mandatory.

Certain modalities (Lomi Lomi) require the removal of most or all clothing given the type of techniques being used.
At the same time, other modalities (Sports) can be very successful while fully-clothed.

Please communicate any questions or concerns you might have.

HYGIENE
Massage therapy involves the use of touch, and may at times include the use of oils, lotions, or creams. Coming to your massage therapy session with a clean body is imperative for the health and safety of both the client and massage therapist. Personal hygiene is mutually respected on both the part of the client and the massage therapist. Should either part fail to uphold their hygiene responsibilities, services for that session will be postponed.  I reserve the right to reschedule and/or end a session.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
All massage services provided are non-sexual. This is a professional, therapeutic, and sacred space - No sexual conversation or behavior will be tolerated. Any inappropriate words or suggestions by the client or the therapist will result in an immediate verbal warning. If the behavior and/or language continues, the session will be immediately terminated without a refund. I take this policy very seriously and will enforce this boundary with the utmost professional discretion.

Massage sessions terminated for inappropriate behavior will be fully charged.

ALCOHOL / CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES
Alcohol/drugs and massage DO NOT MIX. Massage therapist and client both will refrain from alcohol and/or drug use prior to the session. If a client is taking or has taken prescription drugs for pain management or anti-inflammatory purposes in the past 12 hours, client should notify the massage therapist prior to the session.

SICK or ILLNESS POLICY
We ask that if you are sick or have the onset of symptoms of an illness that you reschedule your appointment. If you arrive for your appointment with symptoms of an illness, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. This is for our respective well-being.

Receiving a massage when you are sick is not advised. While in the early and acute stages of an illness, a massage can accelerate the infection and intensify its severity (via additional circulation of blood & lymph). If you get a massage after the infection has peaked, you may experience a relapse.  Please wait until you have been well for at least 5 days before getting your massage. If you do need to cancel your appointment, please call as soon as possible and we can happily reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling better.
